About
Karlien is a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers with many years of experience in corporate treasury, spanning both industry and advisory.
She started her career at BT, progressing through the finance graduate programme into treasury roles covering cash management, FX and interest rate dealing, and European treasury operations. This hands-on grounding in how treasury works day to day has shaped everything she has done since.
Karlien subsequently joined Deloitte and went on to build their UK Treasury Advisory practice from the ground up, leading it as Partner for a decade and co-leading the European network. Under her leadership, the practice grew into one of the UK's largest and most respected treasury advisory teams, serving FTSE-listed corporates, PE-backed businesses, and international groups across every sector.
She recruited, developed, and led a team of over 40 professionals, coached multiple colleagues to Partner, and expanded the practice into new areas including treasury technology, M&A diligence, and derivatives execution.
Through this career, Karlien has worked with hundreds of treasury functions and has seen virtually every challenge the profession faces. She brings that accumulated perspective to every engagement. Clients consistently describe her working style as collaborative and practical, built around long-term partnership.

What Sets KP Treasury Apart
I do the work. No handover to a junior team, no bait-and-switch. The person who scopes your project is the person who delivers it.
Example: I delivered the end-to-end design, selection and implementation of an international cash pooling solution, which resulted in 95% automated visibility and an 80% reduction in idle cash.
Cash, risk, debt, operations, technology. Most advisers specialise in one. I cover all of them, because treasury problems rarely sit neatly in a single box.
I focus on what moves the needle. Proportionate solutions that work in your business, not theoretical frameworks that gather dust.
Example: For the stand-up of a treasury function on carve-out of a listed plc, I delivered the critical standalone banking, cash management and hedging processes for Day 1, on time and on budget.
I scope around outcomes, not hours. You know what you're getting and what it will cost before we start. No open-ended timesheets.
I don't sell software, banking products, or outsourcing contracts. My advice is driven entirely by what is right for your business.
I really like your style. You provide timely, insightful advice and a nice frequency of check ins; a long term partnership.
Very professional and carried out to a high standard. Communication and stakeholder management was strong. Deep technical understanding whilst also reflecting practical considerations.
Karlien has gone above and beyond in collaboration; partnered very well as a team. The outcomes have been excellent.
